Inspiration: Blue, Olive, and Gold

Posted by

I derive color inspiration from various places: Old photographs, a favorite flower, or a pair of shoes. Today’s post comes from an image of an interior space. I loved its robin-egg blue walls, warm olive-green drapes, and golden accents.

Where are you finding inspiration for your upcoming nuptials?

  • I also found mine in an photograph of a room... a white room with grey doors and peachy-nude billowing curtains was my starting off point. As an architect, I am always browsing through images for inspiration, so it seemed like such a natural progression!

  • My inspiration is coming from family traditions, both old and new. Both my fiance and I have Scottish backgrounds, so with two tartans to work in the colour scheme had to be neutral.

We've decided on black and white, with touches of antique silver. Since we're holding both the ceremony and reception in a heritage mansion, the theme of antique and vintage runs through everything, from the family brooch on my bouquet, to the 3 flavours of wedding cake: vanila with lemon curd (his), spice with cream cheese (mine) and chocolate with raspberry (our nephews).

  • I love these color combos for wedding favors! Might have to make some new wedding favor soaps! :)

  • Good day and thank you in advance for the answer to the well needed help.
I’m getting married this year August 31, 2011 in Jamaica. Our theme colors are white, yellow and charcoal (grey). I would love to get ideas on flower decoration. Due to the expensive price of our hotels on wedding decoration and flowers we have agreed to bring and make our decorations (fake flowers and all). I have found beautiful and real looking Cal lilies that will be our main flowers.
    1. What other flowers can be match with it to make full bouquets for center pieces and gazebo decorations?
    2. My 4 bridesmaid will be dress in yellow, and the groom’s man in grey charcoal suits. What other color can be paired for the mothers?
    3. My tables will all be covered in white (Rectangular) with a Satin grey sash as a runway, and over that I will have Calalilies center P and lots of candles. My wooden white chairs will only have a nice tie on them same color as the table runway…Any other ideas. Of how I can incorporate the yellow?
