My summer event season is flying by and I have so many great things to share. We recently worked with a client for a wedding in the Hudson Valley (no, it wasn't Chelsea Clinton). The event was hosted in High Falls, NY, at the incredibly charming Shadow Lawn, which features a beautiful stone house, wonderful landscaping, and the best red barn.
Renting a home in the country for a weekend is a great option for hosting a unique event with the intrigue of a destination wedding minus the long flights. Locations tucked away in the rolling hills and lush trees of somewhere like the Hudson Valley offer a wonderful escape during the hot summer months. My client stayed in a lovely home neighboring Shadow Lawn, where she enjoyed time with her friends and family as they prepared for the weekend. You can also have fun suggesting adorable country inns for your guests to enjoy after a long day and night of celebrating!
Here are a few photos from the weekend. Are you planning a summer wedding?
This is the main house at Shadow Lawn. If you rent the property for your wedding, you can even host a small brunch in the house on the morning following your event.
An upstate wedding wouldn't be complete without Adirondack furniture.
The fire pit was a great after-party spot.
The red barn was perfect for dinner and dancing. Here's part of my team, busy moving the lanterns and preparing the space.

What a cute idea! I love the thought of keeping it relaxed and laid back, it seems like a theme that everyone would be comfortable with and there are so many ways to play on decor for that theme. Love it!
