Sandals Wedding: The Ceremony Location

Posted by

We're continuing our week of planning the Sandals Wedding by Martha Stewart here at Exuma in the Bahamas and I thought now would be a good time to share some helpful tips for planning your own destination wedding.

As you know, with any wedding, but especially a destination wedding, some things are out of your control (as much as a bride would like to plan every detail). That is also why it's a good idea to choose a planner or location where they can help support you should plans change. Today there is a "storm" passing through the area so it is quite windy, which is perfect for sunbathing cause there's a nice breeze -- but not perfect for your "beach" wedding where menu cards will fly and glasses with spill over. We've just taken a whirl around the property to scout out some less windy options. I'm sharing them with you here and would love to know your thoughts. The moral of the story -- always have a plan b. Consider all weather options during the planning stage, and pick a beautiful location (like we've done here) where there are multiple weather options...we plan to wait til closer to the ceremony (it's today at 5:00) -- and we'll decide mid-day where Liz and Colin's wedding will take place.

Won't this look beautiful once it's all decorated and Liz and Colin are standing underneath it?

As with any outdoor wedding, you need a plan B in case bad weather should hit. This spot offers a covered area in case of wind or rain.
