The first guests in our week-long series of "pink plus" posts are Paige Appel of Bash Eco Events and Kelly Harris of Yes, Please Design/succulentLOVE, who together make Bash, Please. Since meeting over breakfast last year, Paige and Kelly have been having a blast collaborating on everything from weddings to photo shoots to spontaneous dance parties. Separately, Paige plans beautiful, eco-minded events and weddings through Bash Eco Events; Kelly creates lovely modern floral designs through succulentLOVE and designs events and paper goods under Yes, Please Design.
When asked to contribute ideas for a pink plus color palette, they knew straight away they wanted to do something outside of the usual wedding tablescape. With pinks and grays as inspiration, they decided to celebrate the smallest guests -- flower girls and ring bearers -- and created an whimsical, fun environment filled with details just for them!
Photographed by Bonnie Tsang, these pink and gray ideas for the littlest ones at your wedding are just adorable!
SWEETS TABLE: Most sweets tables are too high for little kids to see, let alone enjoy, so we brought it down to their level and dressed it up. Danielle from bittersweet treats baked up the loveliest puffy pink snowballs and cookies shaped like bow ties and wedding cakes. Pink gumballs, jelly beans, and silvery chocolates add to the sweet mix.
BACKDROP and DECOR: Visually we wanted to combine unstructured, playful elements with soft, pretty elements to create a lovely, yet raucous environment. The backdrop is made from draping yards of gray fabrics with pink trims and pom pom strings. A “chandelier” chime made from small pie tins adds texture and shine. Fluffy gray pom poms, pink tissue balls, and piles of confetti start out as decoration and end up as play things. The adults might even be tempted to join in.
ATTIRE: These little tykes are rocking serious style. Jaime from Prudent Baby created the girls’ headpieces, and our ring bearer’s patterned bow tie. The girls are wearing simple white summer dresses from Zara and pink, glittery nails. The whole crew sports Converse All-Stars in pink and gray -- perfect for the quintessential “shoe shot.”
FLOWERS: Kelly created the girls’ bouquet using soft pink nerine, astilbe, dusty miller, veronica, and wax flower. The boutonniere pops with nerine and wax flower wrapped up in fuzzy grey dusty miller. And silvery pipe cleaner hearts add a touch of whimsy.
FAVORS: We crafted homemade pink bubbles with custom designed labels for our tiny guests to enjoy during the reception. Each little jar comes with a bubble “ring” made especially for their little fingers.
