Fashion: The Jewelry Show

Posted by

Last week, in addition to all the bridal shows and tabletop presentations being held throughout the city, it was also time for the jewelry show. And what a show. I had the honor of attending a celebration hosted by Stephen Russell called "Platinum Jewels In Bloom," and they showed me the most gorgeous vintage and vintage-inspired jewels, from sparkling colored-stone engagement ring to the most vibrant sapphire pieces.

Do you have your eye on a colored stone for your engagement ring, or do you have one already? I'd love to hear all about it!

  • What timing - my fiance and I just designed my ring on Saturday - a diamond with a sapphire on either side. I really wanted a sapphire center, but compromised with my lovely husband-to-be, who thought that a diamond says "Hello, I am an engagement ring." We both really like color, and I think there are so many gemstones that are beautifully suited for engagement rings.

  • I decided on a pale aquamarine -- it's gorgeous and it looks darker or lighter depending on the light. I also picked yellow gold, which not many people go for these days. The stone is princess and is surrounded by tiny diamonds. I love it!

  • I love my sapphire engagement ring! It's a brilliant blue cushion cut 1.5 carat sapphire and it sparkles so much! We had the setting designed after a victorian ring that I loved the shape of but with an art deco inspired pierced engraving. We saw it this way, we can afford a mediocre diamond, or a fabulous sapphire that is as unique and lovely as anything!

  • Was up in Montreal a Few weeks, we had talked about going to a jeweler in Montreal we had heard of from some friends, S. P. DIAMENT JEWELS. Well my boyfriend proposed to me, it was just prefect, a little chill in the air a touch of snow falling, anyways it was beautiful. we went straight to S. P. DIAMENT and together we designed the most beautiful yellow diamond ring I have ever seen, ( was really nice to be able to be involved in the design aspect, they even made me a model in silver in case there was any thing I wanted to change) it was a 3 ct Cusion cut yellow diamond surrounded by tiny white diamonds and a platinum and yellow gold mounting, anyways if you're ever in montreal go to S. P. DIAMENT JEWELS, best jeweler I've ever been to.
