Custom coasters are wildly popular at weddings these days, from monogrammed card stock models to these easy to make do-it-yourself Plexiglass coasters. They're great multi-purpose accessories for your big day that add a colorful pop on the table or at the bar and work double duty as functional favors. I love the way the colors mix and match here with a variety of decorative papers and fabrics, but you could just as easily make a custom print for you and your sweetheart. Luckily for all your thirsty guests, the how to is as simple as "spray and stick," so you can make enough for the Mint Julep AND the Tom Collins.

To make, you'll need:
- Plexiglass circles (ours are 4 inches in diameter; you can have your Plexiglass cut at a plastic-supply company for about $1 each.)
- spray adhesive
- decorative papers or fabric
- a utility knife
1. To adhere the paper, cover the patterned side of the paper or fabric with the spray adhesive.
2. Affix to the plastic disks.
3. Trim by tracing around Plexiglass edge with utility knife.

I made these as hostess gifts for the friends who threw our engagement party, and have a few tips for anyone attempting this project.
First of all, we used real glass, not plexiglass, because we couldn't find any handy...basically just took those cheesy weddding coasters from Michaels and took all the frosted glass look off with some heavy duty adhesives.
I did not find the utility knife to work very well...I think the best thing we used was manicure scissors because they were small and could get close to the edges. But if you used paper I bet it would work fine.
We used fabric...I would treat the edges with a "no-fray" or similar product because we did have problems with that.
To make them a little nicer, we added little "feet" to the backside of each coaster, using the little bumpers that you put inside of cabinets so they dont slam.
We also treated the back side of the coasters when finished with a fabric protector spray.
All in all I think a great project, with some modifications, and not too difficult. We made about 40 I think...I wont be making them en masse for the wedding though!
