Event Planning: Food Presentation

Posted by

As you formulate all of the ideas for your reception, one small but very important detail to consider is the look and feel of your wedding day food presentation. As you choose each hors d'oeuvre, try to think about the surfaces these delicious bites will be presented on. Your caterer or rental company has many options for making the look cohesive. For a recent wedding, we used vintage silver pieces as centerpieces as serving pieces during the cocktail hour.

Here are a few images from one of my recent events, with catering provided by Great Performances in NYC. The wedding featured a very warm and rustic, yet contemporary design, so Jill from Great Performances used a collection of modern textural trays and platters for all of the savory and sweet nibbles served during the cocktail reception. These trays really made the look of the event that much more consistent. A simple white platter is always lovely, but, as you can see, a tray with a unique shape, luxurious wood grain, woven pattern, or darker tone really adds depth and drama to the overall look.

Do you have any questions about rentals or food presentation? Enjoy your tasting and don't forget to ask a few questions about the serving pieces!
