Behind the Scenes: An Event Worth Toasting To
Posted by Darcy Miller
Okay, life is good when your job includes going to events as I did yesterday -- Dom Perignon's unveiling of their "Dom Perignon Wedding" at The Magic Room of the LVMH Tower (one of the coolest and most chic rooms I've ever been in). Yes, the location definitely sets the tone for a special event -- but about every other component to the event made it special as well.
Just like a wedding, the people make all the difference! And I had the privledge of sitting next to Jeff Leatham (who did his signature gorgeous and modern floral arrangements) and Laurent Boidevezi (SVP, Champagne Strategy at Dom Perignon -- how much do you envy him that for a title?). We got to catch up about all the reasons you would want this new Champagne -- the inscription on the bottle, special for weddings -- has not been done for any other wedding than that of Charles and Diana...and Dom says they have created this Champagne "to make the most important day of brides and grooms lives even more special".
1 Don't you love the mirrored vessels and calla lilies?
2 When you have experts like the fabulous Colin Cowie (who you can meet tomorrow at our event) -- and Jeff Leatham (who did the flowers) -- look how spectacular -- I would want my wedding to look like this!
3 In keeeping with the elegant "sparkle" of the event check out Donna D'Cruz (www.rasaliving.com) as she djs with her crystal headphones.
4 Event designers the extraordinary David Monn and Colin Cowie -- two of my faves.
5 Wedding friends Jean Christophe of Feast & Fete who catered the event, event designer Antony Todd -- I'll forever love him, as he did my wedding, Sylvia Weinstock who did the cake on our Winter cover, and of course dress designer Reem Acra.
6 Kleinfeld's Mara Urshel (I'm taking a bride shopping there next week!) and CEO of Preston Bailey, Xoua Vang.
7 Dom Perignon Wedding.
8 Laurent Boidevezi, Moet Hennessy and designer Georgina Chapman of Marchesa) -- she was on the show recently and designs the most beautiful gowns (and is beautiful and sweet too!).
9 Mark Ingram has the best taste as shown at his bridal boutique the Bridal Atelier by Mark Ingram.
10 Katie Lee and event planner Marci Blum.
11 We can thank Chef Daniel Boulud for the delicious lunch!
12 Jeff Leatham and Grace Ormand.
13 Look at Jeff Leatham's sparkly Loius Vuitton shoes...every groom needs those!
Dom Perignon Wedding contains 12 bottles of Dom Perignon Vintage 2000, along with a fantastic white laquered box with one more bottle of the vintage 2000 -- and that 13th bottle can be personalized with a bride and grooms' names and wedding date...so now i know what you want to know...WHERE DO I GET THIS?? The answer -- right now it can be purchased by special order at Crush Wine & Spirits in NY and at other fine wine purveyors nationwide.
