I've been suggesting we do a story on using origami at your wedding for years now, but it just hasn't happened for some reason (I'll put aside my conspiracy theories for now). So, I'm pulling together my favorite origami ideas here. Some of these are from Living, some happened in Weddings—all have a weddings application, in my opinion. I'd love to hear from you if you've thought of using origami paper in any way at your wedding. I think it's another one of those things you can do with time rather than money—and get a big, personal pay off.
OK, so I cheated a little. These lanterns aren't made with origami paper, but they are based on an origami fold. They ran in a July issue of Living, an issue I always love for entertaining ideas. These would be great for marking a path at sunset.

I will assume that you have seen this wedding (being the experts on weddings!) but I thought I would comment anyway. Issey Miyake made this wedding dress based on origami principles for the bride. It folds down into a flat hexagon! You can see all of their details here: http://www.itsabeautifuldaywedding.com/main.swf

I am a professional illustrator with a specialty in paper engineering (pop-up cards and books). The theme of my Sept. 26th wedding is paper. I am incorporating paper into many areas of the wedding design including origami paper crane place cards; origami lily table decorations and favors; pop-up invitations, menus, and ceremony programs; etc. It's going to be a celebration of love and paper.

It reminds me of the How I Met Your Mother episode where Lily makes everyone help her with origami cranes. Love it! I've linked to this post at http://crosscountrywed.blogspot.com
