Back in the day, I did a story for Blueprint (RIP) about using costume jewelry in unexpected ways, and I've been thinking about how useful some of the ideas could be for bridesmaids gifts and accessories. The first idea is using a bracelet as a belt, which could be just the thing to personalize a bridesmaids dress:
And of course you can use vintage or new bracelets—you just have to be able to slip a ribbon through both ends in order to tie at the back. Here are some others, so you can see the way the ribbon works:
Or you can start with a brooch and turn it into a bracelet, by pinning on a ribbon:
It's super simple, but makes a brooch that much more wearable. And if you are a collector, check out Carol Tanenbaum, one of my favorite costume jewelry sources, or troll Ebay as a cure for insomnia (like me). It can be a great, economical way to give your bridesmaids a special accessory. Are you giving your bridesmaids a handmade gift?
