So, what do you think? Are people who have pets in their wedding letting it go to the dogs? My two cents is that if you’re having your wedding at home or your location is pet-friendly and you have a well-behaved pooch, then why not? Just don't expect a guest to take care of Max or Molly during the reception—it's not fair to tell a friend to miss out on the fun by taking your dog home or watching it all night.
Martha Stewart Weddings Deputy Style Editor Randi Brookman-Harris included her Boston Terrier Olive in her ceremony: A friend hid a treat in her hand while she led Olive down the aisle, then rewarded the dog for her good behavior at the end of the line. Randi, worried about her pet’s scavenging ways, hired a doggie daycare service to pick up Olive after the ceremony and keep her for the duration of the reception. It's not a bad idea for anyone thinking about including a four-footed friend. After all, the last thing you want is a sick puppy (or a guest who gets back from a spin on the dance floor to find their duck a l’orange is missing).
