The other morning I spent some time behind the scenes of the Today show with Martha and cake baker and Martha Stewart Weddings contributing editor Wendy Kromer, and what I saw was amazing. As they demonstrated on the show, you can have a designer cake no matter where you live. Just have your baker bake a plain cake and decorate it with surprising details of the edible variety, from gum paste stepanotis to marzipan cherries. I also liked the crystallized roses by Meadowsweets (they crystallize over 75 varieties of flowers!). Here are a few shots you didn't see on TV.
The stephanotis and cherries look like the real thing.
