Want to know what’s hot in gowns this season? I just got back from viewing all the latest designer styles at the twice-yearly bridal market in New York City, and these are some of the trends I thought were strongest. Interestingly, they mirrored many of the ones going on in ready-to wear, including all kinds of sleeve treatments (finally—chic bridal styles that cover your arms!), skinny little belts, bejeweled or made of ribbon, and, a continuing theme, shorter skirts. (Hey, if it was good enough for Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, it’s good enough for me!). So, what do you think? Is there a look here that has legs (so to speak)?
Reem Acra had plenty of innovative ways to bring blue into the season, including these detachable balloon sleeves.
A sparkling belt breaks up this Amsale gown's classic silhouette.
Elizabeth Filmore's short frock is perfect for a daytime or more casual reception.

I really like that first gown, it's so fresh and unusual, and the flower on the best really ties it all together. The sleeves I'm not so sure about, but my final verdict would be: nice for the runway or Queen Amidala, perhaps not so much for real brides? Maybe it's all in the attitude!
P.S. I love coming here and reading this blog everyday - and I'm not even planning a wedding in the near future! Thanks for doing such a great job, Darcy.

darcy, you're so lucky to have seen these dresses in person! i just saw your editor's letter in my latest issue and wanted to tell you that i love the "incroyable" dress by reem acra - featured at the bottom right corner of p. 161. The scoopneck, cut, and embroidery are just breathtaking! i can't wait to try it on.
i also love the first one you're showing on this blog. I want to use the colors as the theme for my big day! maybe even the ethereal puff sleeves too!

I love sewing and making clothes and dresses, and I also run a small tailoring business.I find inspiration from fashion televion programs and magazines. Children dresses also attracts new ideas for me. I feel every dress has its own beauty and uniqueness which cannot be replicated. I apply this thought when I design my own clothes.

They sell gorgeous flower belts with vintage crystal/rhinestone centers, similar to the blue Rheem Acra dress...but not expensive!
