You know the custom: A bride should wear "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" on her wedding day for luck. It is an English wedding tradition that began in the Victorian era–each item is meant to symbolize a different element of the bride’s life:
something old = continuity with the bride's family and her past
something new = optimism and hope for the bride's new life
something borrowed = good fortune passed on from a happily married friend or family member (you borrow from a friend who is married)
something blue = blue is a color associated in ancient Rome with love and fidelity.
Of course, this is just one of many different wedding traditions you can incorporate into your wedding. Whatever you choose, make sure it has special meaning to you, and as always put your own, personal spin on it.

Have you heard about the penny in her shoe tradition?
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a penny in your shoe.
My best friend got married a couple of weeks ago and I taped a penny to the bottom of her shoe (the year on the penny was of course 2007).
I think its a cute addition and of course have the penny with heads side up!

I think this tradition will forever stay timeless. Even though it might be modified here and there, I think that almost every bride will honor this tradition. I know I will.
It's almost as important as the ring! lol
